Martin Leaper announces his retirement!

Posted on 12 June 2023

Martin Leaper, currently The Midlands’ Area Sales Manager for MACH Machine Tools and Machine Tools Sales Online (MTSO) and part of The Vigilance Group, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the month (June 2023).

Martin is a well-known, popular and seasoned sales professional with over 38 years’ experience in the Machine Tool sector.

During his 47-year career he held a number of senior sales, product and managing director positions in many machine tool companies i.e., Bridgeport, Mikron, Matsuura and XYZ.

He joined the Vigilance Group in November 2020 where he was instrumental in helping drive sales growth for both MACH Machine Tools and MTSO, as the UK emerged from pandemic.

Martin was a familiar figure at Metcut and subsequent MACH exhibitions – attending every event, as either a visitor or exhibitor, since 1986. He also attended many EMO Shows in Hannover, Milan and Paris during the same period.

Says Dave Andrew, The Vigilance Group’s managing director:

“I would like to thank Martin for his commitment, dedication and hard work since joining us back in 2020, and for making a telling contributing to MACH Machine Tools’ and MTSO’s impressive sales growth over the last three years.

“We will be sad, of course, to lose Martin but wish him well in his retirement.”

The Vigilance Group announces that both its new and used machine tool divisions, MACH Machine Tools and Machine Tool Sales Online (MTSO), will be attending the Southern Manufacturing Show in February - each exhibiting in its own right.

The Vigilance Group, the Bristol-based new and used machine tool sales and support specialist, has confirmed that its MACH Machine Tools and Machine Tool Sales Online (MTSO) divisions will both be attending the 2022 Southern Manufacturing Show in their own right.

Both companies will be showcasing individual products from their respective ranges on adjacent stands (H310/MACH Machine Tools and J270/MTSO), which are divided by a walkway.

Explains Vigilance Group Managing Director, David Andrew:

“The Southern Manufacturing Show in 2022 provides us with a great opportunity to demonstrate, and promote, the Group’s prowess through two of our most successful divisions - MACH Machine Tools and MTSO.

“With component manufacturers reporting a significant upturn in economic activity over recent months, many have looked to improve their machining capacity and capabilities to help them capitalise on the increase in demand for their services.

“At Southern Manufacturing we are demonstrating that we can meet manufacturers’ needs by providing them with either new or pre-owned high-quality machine tools ready for immediate delivery and installation - anywhere in the UK or Ireland.

“New our used - our machines deliver and represent real value.”

MACH Machine Tools

MACH Machine Tools is returning to the Southern Manufacturing Show ready to showcase its latest and most advanced machines.

The line-up includes the MACH VS-2 SP - a new, next generation ‘Super Precision’ manual turret-type milling machine - and a range of the company’s market-leading and best-in-class DynaPath controlled CNC/manual lathes and bed mills.

Comments MACH Machine Tools Director, Matt Andrew

“MACH Machine Tools is back on the exhibition scene with a bang.

“Manufacturers up and down the country already know about our legendary, and some may say iconic, VS-1 turret type milling machine which, since its introduction into the UK in 2013, has taken the market by storm.

“Well, the big news is that we’ve launched new Super Precision models into the market and at Southern, one of these, the VS-2 SP will be making its debut.”

Other MACH machines taking centre stage include a number of DynaPath controlled lathes and bed mills - each featuring innovative Wi-Fi enabled technology that enables customers 24/7 access to technical and applications help and support…should it be required.

For the first time in its history MTSO, one of the UK’s largest and most respected used machine tool retailers, will be exhibiting a range of its high quality pre-owned machines at the Southern Manufacturing Show.

Says David Andrew:

“MTSO has a reputation in the market for quality, value, integrity and ‘going the extra mile’ for its customers. All these values, which are key differentiators in the used machine tool market, will be on show on stand J270.”
